Strategy on the go: games that fit a coffee break
Strategy used to mean settling in for a long haul. On mobile, the smart designers have reshaped it around short, complete sessions — and it works better than I expected.
Iron Tide Command is a good example. Missions land around fifteen minutes, there's a pause-to-plan button so you're never punished for a touchscreen fumble, and the maps stay readable no matter how much is happening. You can play one mission on a break and feel like you accomplished something.
The key is a clear feedback loop. Good mobile strategy tells you instantly why you won or lost so the next session starts smarter. Bad ones hide their systems and hope you'll grind through confusion.
If you've written off strategy because you don't have hours to spare, it's worth another look. The genre came to meet you halfway.
